WAG Bird Walk

Yesterday morning I led the coldest bird walk I've ever led! It was for the newly formed Williamson Audubon Group. When we started at the Lake Creek Trail parking lot at the end of Braes Valley it was about 19 degrees and I don't think it got above freezing during the 2 hours we were out. Despite the cold, 8 people showed up for the walk and the birding was excellent! The cold temperature and lack of wind brought the birds out to forage more actively than usual. It was easy to find birds and show them to everyone, and we had a great time. Here are some highlights:

Thanks Mike for leading the trip. Sorry I didn't make it but we just returned from NYC late on Saturday. Maybe we can do it together sometime soon. By the way we held a WAG steering group meeting and produced a Mission Statement: WAG promotes the appreciation of birds by sharing knowledge and experience. I think that says it all.
